I met Courtney on an in person official level when my wife and I went to their house for a showing. It was something like fate or the universe or whatever you want to call it, when she posted on her social media that she and her husband were getting ready to put their house on the market. We INSTANTLY connected, my wife and I bought their home and the rest is history.
Courtney, is the owner and an instructor at The Space Yoga Studio in White Oak, TX.
Once we finished with all that good paperwork stuff - I knew I had to have Courtney in my studio and now that her session is complete and she’s seen her images, she agreed to do a little interview about her experience.
1. Tell us a little about your self-acceptance journey.
My journey to love myself started several years ago. After having my third child, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and spent most of my time in bed. I put on quite a bit of weight and was miserable. I was missing out on life with my kids, I was slowly letting this illness defeat me.
I can't say I had some life changing moment, more like a slow roll. A desire to feel better - a need for things to change. I started making healthier choices with what I put into my body and mind. I spoke affirmations to myself, even though they felt silly. I found yoga and started digging deep into mindfulness and healing. Along the way, I found my dream job and work daily to help others realize the strength they have inside them.
2. How would you describe your reason for doing a session?
Angela and her wife bought my house and turned my old yoga studio into her new studio. At our closing, she graciously gifted me with a session and I could not have been more grateful.
I have wanted to do a shoot for a long time and have watched her work for quite some time. I never had the guts to book it, nor to make the investment into myself.
To gain more confidence in a room I have watched so many women realize their own strength was so powerful. I faced a few of my insecurities head on in that room and left feeling powerful.

3. What are three words that describe your experience?
Powerful- I was raised very sheltered and anything considered "scandalous" was wrong, shameful even. To take power over your own body and your femininity is life changing.
Unforgettable- The photo reveal was something I'll never forget. I remember asking more than once if she was sure that was me. To take yourself out of how you see yourself and into how others see you is an eye opening experience.
Healing- I cried during my reveal. I felt a healing in places I didn't even know needed healing. I found a deep love for parts of myself I have shunned my whole life.
4. How do you feel now that you've completed your experience and seen your photos?
I feel like a goddess. Plain and simple. I could never thank Angela enough for what she does. The pictures may be of me, but she spoke confidence into me that allowed my inner goddess to come out.
5. Any words of wisdom to share with readers?
The things you pick apart about yourself, you are the only one who sees them that way. There's no one else in the entire world like you. The world not only needs but deserves to see and know your authentic self.
